Everyone wants to improve their formulations and Proactiv is no different. Unfortunately, they made a big mistake in reformulating their Pore Targeting Treatment.  Let me explain:

Ingredients in Proactiv Plus Pore Targeting Treatment:

Active Ingredient(s): Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5%.
Inactive Ingredients: water, ethoxydiglycol, glycerin, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, polysorbate 80, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, carbomer, potassium hydroxide, disodium EDTA, fragrance.

The almond oil will keep the benzoyl peroxide on the surface of the skin, not allowing it to go down into the pore. If benzoyl peroxide is not allowed to go down into the pore, it cannot peel the inside of the pore which is essential to keep retention hyperkeratosis (the cause of acne) in check.  It also cannot kill the acne bacteria inside the pore.  Keeping the benzoyl peroxide on the surface of the skin is a big mistake.  The oil basically renders this product ineffective.

The Complexion Perfecting Hydrator has a pore-clogging ingredient in it.  The offender is ethylhexl palmitate which is a 4 out 5 in comedogenicity.

Oops. Not good after all. If you want real help, see me today by booking an Acne Consultation From the BookNow button on each page.
