Reduce your stress and get enough rest. Lack of sleep and high-stress levels will stimulate the adrenal glands which lead to more clogged pores.

Stay away from foods, vitamins and sports drinks/bars. Many contain iodide salt, seafood, seaweed, kelp( taken for thyroid support). If you want protein supplements, do not use whey protein. There are many safe protein supplements like hemp, pea protein, vegetable protein and egg white protein. Look for biotin and iodide levels. Play it safe and do not choose ones with these in them.

Stay away from “high androgen” foods. These foods contain hormones that make Acne worse. Say no to peanuts, peanut oil, peanut butter, corn oil and wheat germ.

Swimming pools contain disinfectants. Iodides and chlorine irritate the skin. Plus the high humidity and hot water will irritate the skin. Clean your skin immediately after the pool. You can also put vaseline on the skin before pool time to stop those chemicals from reaching the skin.

Do not pick!If you want to pick, use your icing technique for 2-3 minutes twice a day. This will reduce the inflammation, kill the bacteria and reduce the swelling.

Use fragrance-free detergents. Cheer Free, All Free & Clear, Tide Free or Arm & Hammer Free. This will reduce chemicals on your skin.

No fabric softeners. Too many chemicals on your skin.

Avoid birth control low in estrogens. There are many safe birth controls that are high in estrogens. Use them.

Choose safe makeup that contains NO pore clogging ingredients. Poor makeup can aggravate your skin.

Use a noncomedogenic sunscreen, every day, all day. Using many topical acne meds will make your skin very sensitive to the sun leaving it with brown spots.
